Sir John and Sir William were raised with a deep understanding that success carries responsibility. As children, they watched their father quietly serve his local church - contributing his time, skills, and financial support to strengthen the community around him. Our Origins
As Gallagher Group grew from a small family business into a global organisation, the brothers remained grounded in their commitment to community. From that commitment, the Gallagher Charitable Trust was established. The Trust then made deliberate investments designed to generate ongoing income dedicated to community benefit, ensuring support that was sustainable and enduring.
From those foundations, the Gallagher Charitable Trust was established.

Over more than 40 years, the Trust has grown into a significant contributor to the greater Waikato region. Its purpose is simple yet powerful: to strengthen the communities that have supported the Gallagher family and business over generations.

The Trust has supported a wide range of initiatives across health, education, social services, and community development. Notable partnerships include organisations such as Hospice Waikato and University of Waikato, alongside many other community groups and projects making a meaningful difference.
